China Quality News Network Report: In the third quarter of 2019, the Jiangsu Administration for Market Regulation organized a supervised random inspection on the product quality of range hoods. A total of 49 batches of products were sampled, of which 44 batches were qualified, representing a pass rate of 89.7%.
The results of this inspection showed that the non-compliant items mainly covered six indicators: stability and mechanical hazards, construction, power supply connection and external flexible cords, noise, air volume, and total pressure efficiency.
- 1.Stability and mechanical hazards: This item assesses whether the appearance and design of the product can effectively prevent personal injury. One batch of products was found non-compliant in this test item.
- 2.Construction: Two batches of products failed the construction test. The tips of self-tapping screws were exposed, which may easily cause scratches to users.
- 3.Power supply connection and external flexible cords: Two batches of products were unqualified in this item. If the power cord is pulled to move the appliance, conductor breakage or damage to the insulating sheath may easily occur.
- 4.Noise: One batch of products failed the noise test. Long-term use may affect users’ hearing.
- 5.Air volume: Air volume is the most intuitive indicator reflecting the performance of range hoods and one of the key references for consumers when purchasing products. One batch was found unqualified for insufficient suction and poor fume extraction.
- 6.Total pressure efficiency: Two batches failed the total pressure efficiency test and did not meet energy efficiency requirements.
Consumer Advice
- 1.Check markings: When purchasing, verify the completeness of product markings, which shall include product name, model, manufacturer or trademark, implemented standards and other information. Choose products bearing the CCC certification mark.
- 2.Check air performance indicators: Air performance is a critical parameter for range hoods, mainly including air volume, wind pressure and total pressure efficiency. It is recommended to select products with higher values of these three indicators.
- 3.Proper usage: It is advised to keep the range hood running for five to six minutes after cooking to fully discharge residual harmful gas in the kitchen.
Based on historical random inspection results, whether purchasing large home appliances or kitchen appliances, buying from reputable brands via official channels offers greater assurance, especially in terms of safety performance. Consumers can also enjoy more reassuring after-sales support in case of faults.
For enterprises to survive and grow, marketing is undoubtedly important. However, for a brand to achieve long-term development, consumer reputation is the ultimate deciding factor. Big or small, foreign or domestic brands, all rely on product quality to achieve greater and sustainable growth.
