As a core appliance in daily‑use kitchens, gas stoves are of self‑evident importance. Therefore, whether for new‑kitchen fitting‑out or renovation‑upgrade projects, gas stoves rank high on the priority list. What precautions should be taken during purchase, installation and subsequent usage? Today we will walk you through the key points briefly.

1. Purchase and Installation of Gas Stoves

When purchasing a gas stove, stainless‑steel and tempered‑glass panels dominate the current market. Select the panel material according to your personal preference. It is worthwhile to learn about available functions, as practical features can greatly improve efficiency. For instance, the timer function allows you to set duration for long‑time cooking such as soup simmering. Once you decide on a product, whether buying online or offline, make sure you obtain the required cut‑out size for the stove so that countertop opening can be prepared in advance.

For installation, most online‑purchased and offline‑purchased stoves come with door‑to‑door installation service. Feel free to consult service staff for any questions, and keep their contact number for timely troubleshooting of future issues.

2. Ventilation Holes Shall Be Reserved for Built‑in Gas Stove Installation

Many homeowners install other kitchen appliances or sliding drawers underneath built‑in gas stoves during kitchen renovation to maximize kitchen space. Since the drawers are opened and closed several times every day, some people mistakenly believe that additional ventilation holes are unnecessary. This view is incorrect. Without ventilation holes in the cabinet, gas leakage may lead to explosion hazards. Ventilation holes must be reserved.

Whether for liquefied petroleum gas or natural gas, gas leakage may occur due to aging or corrosion of valve connectors and rubber hoses. Gas pipes may even be gnawed through by rats. Regular inspections are required. Promptly handle any detected gas leakage, and replace rubber hoses and valve connectors periodically. Besides facilitating gas‑leak detection, reserved ventilation holes also require anti‑rat and anti‑pest measures to prevent rats, cockroaches and other pests from entering the cabinet through the openings.

3. Do Not Continue Using an Over‑age Gas Stove

According to the Safety Administration Regulations for Domestic Gas‑burning Appliances, the safe service life for manufactured‑gas stoves is 6 years, while that for natural‑gas stoves is 8 years. Security risks rise sharply once the service life is exceeded. Replace the stove in advance before it reaches the end of its service life instead of delaying the replacement.

4. Maintain Safe Clearances during Installation

Generally, the net distance between the back of the stove and the wall shall be no less than 15 cm, and the net distance between the stove sides and the wall shall be no less than 20 cm. If the wall is made of flammable material, heat‑insulating fire‑proof layers must be attached. The fire‑proof layer shall extend no less than 10 cm beyond both ends and the bottom of the stove, and no less than 80 cm above the stove surface. The distance between the stove and gas pipelines or gas cylinders shall be 1 m, and the maximum length of the gas inlet hose shall not exceed 2 m.

Furthermore, the stove shall be installed in a well‑ventilated kitchen. Do not stack flammable articles under or around the stove to avoid fire risks. The kitchen floor area shall be no less than 2 square meters with an indoor height of no less than 2.2 m. Good isolation shall be maintained between the kitchen and adjacent rooms to prevent leaked gas from spreading to other spaces.
